Exploration on high altitude adaptation/disease by analyzing a group of very different group of people living at Pamir Mountain, middle Asia. The uniqueness of these subjects are the development of high altitude pulmonary hypertension. The aim of this project is to perform whole genome sequencing on samples from a specific Kyrgyzstani population to better understand the role of the nitric oxide pathway and endothelin system in the etiology of hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction and high altitude pulmonary hypertension.
